Metro Police Announce More Overtime For Officers

Violent Crimes Task Force Busy In Various Hot Spots Around Town

POSTED: 12:30 pm EDT September 2, 2005

Metro police announced more overtime for officers in an attempt to clean up crime hot spots throughout the city.

The Violent Crimes Task Force just wrapped up its work last week, WLKY NewsChannel 32 reported.

Along with catching fugitives, the group also saturated patrols in known troubled areas.

Officers now will be offered overtime to work high drug and violence areas in their respective divisions.

"Because they're the ones that are actually most familiar with what's going on," Metro police Chief Robert White said of the officers who will get the overtime. "They're the ones that we're going to use throughout the remainder of this year."

Metro police will spend about $50,000 a month on the overtime, totaling about $200,000 by the end of the year.
