LOUISVILLE -- A man of the cloth who started an organization designed to stop violence is being accused of such crimes by his own wife. The Rev. Gerome Sutton, of the African-American Think Tank, faces charges of terroristic threatening, menacing and harrassment with physical contact, WLKY NewsChannel 32's Andy Alcock reported Tuesday.According to Metro Councilwoman Denise Bentley, Sutton recently solicited funds for that organization. But she said further investigation revealed Sutton's group was a for-profit business.
Metro government only can give money to nonprofit groups in good standing with the state, WLKY reported."I am concerned that someone would solicit funds from Metro government to aid in inner city teenage violence if they have a violent history themselves," Bentley said.Sutton also faces a charge of felony theft by deception. He's supposed to pay back money in that case.Sutton is due in court in September to face the charges brought by his wife, who has taken out an emergency protection order against him, WLKY reported. Please follow WLKY NewsChannel 32 and TheLouisvilleChannel.com for updates to this story as they become available.
