McConnell Returns To Normal Work Schedule

Senator Will Resume Full Duties

Kentucky Sen. Mitch McConnell will return to his normal schedule this weekend, five days after he was diagnosed with a small blood clot in his left ankle.

Thursday, he underwent a follow-up ultrasound at Jewish Hospital that showed a reduction in the size of the clot, WLKY NewsChannel 32 reported.

McConnell will return to Washington on Sunday and resume his duties as the Senate's No. 2 Republican.

On Tuesday, he was diagnosed with a case of superficial thrombophlebitis, a non-life-threatening condition.

It's not the first health issue for McConnell this year. He underwent triple-bypass heart surgery in February.
