Taylor Grand Jury Begins To Hear Testimony

Officer Could Face Charges

A grand jury began hearing testimony Wednesday in the fatal police shooting of James Taylor.

Louisville Police Officer Mike O'Neil shot at Taylor 12 times in Taylor's apartment in December. Taylor, who was handcuffed at the time, was hit 11 times and died.

The grand jury is trying to determine whether to indict O'Neil.

Police said that Taylor, who was 50 when he was killed, grabbed a box-cutter type of knife from his back pocket and threatened O'Neil and Officer Brian Luckett with it. The officers were responding to a separate call on East St. Catherine Street when they heard screams from Taylor's apartment.
