LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Disabled residents have filed suit against four local businesses, WLKY NewsChannel 32 has learned.
The suit singles out the Louisville Academy of Music and the Jerry Heston Hair Salon on Frankfort Avenue, as well as Bazo's Baja Grill and Omar's Gyros, both on Baxter Avenue.
"All we want is to get in the front door," said Denise Maples, one of the plaintiffs. "My money spends as good as your money."Only the Louisville Academy of Music refused to talk about the suit. Bazo's told NewsChannel 32 that it would be willing to upgrade their access, while the owner of Omar's said he'd build a ramp if it was affordable. Meanwhile, Jerry Heston Hair Salon said they'd provide a temporary ramp if a disabled person made such a request. The Kentucky Civil Rights Act requires businesses to comply, regardless of whether the businesses see the necessity.
