Extreme Park Onlookers Unruly After Injury
Teenager In Stable Condition
POSTED: 9:40 a.m. EDT September 3, 2002
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Louisville police say several hundred onlookers began yelling at emergency workers who were helping an injured bicyclist at Louisville Extreme Park, prompting officials to close the park briefly and arrest a man.
Patrick Pollack, 15, was bleeding from the head when a Louisville Fire and Rescue crew arrived at the downtown park.
LPD spokeswoman Helene Kramer said that police were called to the park shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday to help emergency workers with an unruly crowd of 300 to 400. She says some people were yelling and getting in the way of workers.
By 1:40 a.m., the injured teen was taken, unconscious, to Kosair Children's Hospital. He is currently in stable condition.
Fifteen-year-old Matt Montel of Crooksville, Ohio, said that part of the crowd's frustration stemmed from the response time of emergency workers.
Louisville Fire and Rescue Captain Ronel Brown said that the department has received no complaints regarding the response time for the run.
Kramer said that police arrested Gregory Livingston, 24, of Louisville, when he refused to leave the area when police told him to.
